100 Year Of The Blues

우연한 기회에 접하게 된 앨범이 한동안 음악 감상의 핵으로 두각되는 경우가 종종있다. 이번에 구한 앨범 '100 Year Of The Blues'가 바로 그런 음반. 4장의 앨범에 꽉꽉 들어찬 블루스 넘버들이 당분간 내 귀를 즐겁게 해 줄 것 같다.

이 앨범이 좋은 이유는 제목 그대로 100년간의 블루스 역사를 한 번에 들어볼 수 있다는 것에 있다. 2차 세계대전 이전의 얼리 블루스 부터 50년대 어번 블루스, 60년대, 70년대 블루스 넘버들 중 귀를 즐겁게 만드는 명곡들이 가득차 있다. 거기에 비교적 최근이라 할 수 있는 모던/컨템포러리 블루스까지 함께 즐길 수 있다. 그야말로 블루스 초심자에겐 매력적인 종합선물세트 같은 앨범. 흔히 듣지 못하던 초기 블루스를 접할 수 있는 1번, 2번 CD가 아주 명품이다. 이런 뿌리깊은(?) 음악이 아직 현역이라는 것이 부럽기도 하고 대단하기도 하다.

Jack Johnson의 명연에서 부터 Lee Ritneour까지 시대를 넘어선 블루스의 매력에 푹 빠져보자.
