회사에서 구입한 오즈모 포켓을 한참 사용해 보다가 비슷한 카메라가 하나 있으면 좋겠다고 생각해서 질러버린 Vmate.
글로벌 펀딩 12억 성공의 마이크로 3축 짐벌 4K 초소형 카메라라는 문구와 오즈모처럼 하드웨어 연결이 아닌 무선으로 스마트폰과 연결해 사용할 수 있는 장점, 그리고 무엇보다 가격이 저렴해서 구입을 했는데요. 문제는 이 녀석이 제 iPhone SE2와 연결이 되지 않는 것입니다. 앱을 설치하고 연결을 시도하니 자꾸 에러만 나오고 연결이 안 되네요. 그래서 앱스토어를 우선 뒤져 봤습니다.
그랬더니 역시나 연결이 안 된다는 글들이 엄청나게 많더군요. 전 펀샵에서 구매했는데 여기서는 제대로 된 솔루션을 낼 수 없을 것 같아서 파파고의 도움으로 본사에 문의를 넣어봤습니다. 답변은 엄청 빠르게 오더군요.
첫 번째 답변은 이렇게 왔네요.

You try this connection method to see if it can solve your problem.
1. Try to update the latest firmware
2. Some mobile phones can try to turn off the mobile phone network data so that the connection to Vmate is more stable.
3. Vmate uses 5GWi-Fi, so please check if your phone supports a 5GWi-Fi connection.
4. Vmate's Android app "Snoppa Paly" is suitable for mobile phones with Android 9.0 and above, and the iOS app "Vmate" is suitable for mobile phones with 9.0 and above.
5. If there is a VPN network, be sure to close the VPN network
6. Please check if you have turned on Bluetooth
7. Check if your phone is connected to the Wi-Fi of other devices. If so, please disconnect.
If you have completed the above operations, but still can not connect. Please provide a video of your operation connecting Vmate. And your phone model and system version. So that we can feedback to the engineer to deal with.

Vmate는 핸드폰과 카메라를 와이파이로 연결하고 나머지 인터넷 연결을 셀룰러 데이터를 이용하는 방식입니다. 그래서 폰과 연결이 안 되면 업데이트 자체가 안 돼요. 어쩔 수 없이 집사람의 갤럭시 S20에 연결해 급한 데로 펌웨어를 업그레이드했습니다. 그리고 나머지 내용도 파파고의 도움을 받아서 해 보라는 데로 다 해봤지만 역시나 연결 불량. 다시 메일을 보냈습니다. 안 되는 장면을 비디오로 촬영해 보내달라고 해서 친절하게 스마트폰 화면을 녹화해서 유튜브에 올려 보내줬죠.
그랬더니 두 번째 답변이 왔습니다.

Thanks for your kind cooperation. You try to close Cellular Data to see if you can connect to your Vmate.
If you still can't connect, please try to replace other devices to test whether the connection of Vmate is normal.

셀룰러 데이터를 끄고 연결해 보라는 거였습니다. 폰 설정에 들어가서 Vmate 앱의 셀룰러폰 사용을 끄고 연결했더니 정말 거짓말처럼 연결이 됐습니다. 그런데 이게 끝이 아니죠. 이 녀석은 셀룰러 데이터를 사용해야 펌웨어도 다운로드하고 인터넷 라이브 방송도 하는 등 많은 일을 할 수 있는 녀석이니까요.
그래서 다시 메일을 보냈습니다. 그럼 나는 셀룰러 데이터를 사용할 수 없는 거냐고요.

Thanks for letting me know. We are aware that in a few cases the Vmate connection could be established only when phone cellular data is off. Our technical team had done massive tests trying to troubleshoot this problem, but it didn't happen in our tests for once, so we are now still targetting the cause of this issue.
We assume it might be caused by a different protocol of the communication provider which may collide with Vmate's WiFi frequency. Our engineers are still in research and trying to figure out a solid solution. I‘ll keep you posted with what we have found, thank you~!

자기들도 이런 오류를 많이 들었는데 해결을 못 했다는군요. 자기들이 테스트할 때 나타나지 않았던 버그였답니다. 고치려고 노력하고 있다니 기다려 봐야겠죠? 아무튼 억지로 해결은 했네요.
그래도 빠른 응답과 해결책을 보내주는 것에는 고맙네요. 문제 해결은 안 됐지만 촬영하는 데는 큰 문제가 없었습니다. 당분간은 스마트폰 없이 사용하다가 펌웨어가 업데이트됐다고 하면 다시 시도해 봐야겠어요. 아래는 Vmate로 촬영한 영상입니다.
